If you’re a Danny Phantom phan, then you know this past year has easily been the most exciting since the series ended in 2007. Recently, creator Butch Hartman has been steadily releasing YouTube videos with new information and concept images, inciting a new surge of life in the phandom. Last year, he drew the main trio of characters aged up ten years, giving us new canon material to work with. Yet this past month alone may have surpassed that excitement with four new videos from Hartman and Nickelodeon.

Ghost Zone Secrets Revealed!

The first new video is a treasure trove of information for those who like world-building. Hartman goes over some facts about the dimension known as the Ghost Zone, some of which is already known. But in the last half of the video, he delves into unexplored parts of the Zone. We get two new areas – the Unworld and the Elsewhereness – and a new character: Sojourn.

Sojourn’s important, especially when you apply him to the series retroactively. He’s a nomad ghost who is supposedly the only one to find the Elsewhereness, a place in the Ghost Zone where fear and misery don’t exist. Sojourn took notes on this place in his journal, and those pages have since been scattered across the Zone. Enter Danny’s archenemy, Vlad, who wants to find these pages so he can take over and rule the Elsewhereness. I would love to see this storyline written into a Danny Phantom reboot. And of course, it’s great fodder for the phans’ imaginations. The potential is ripe for the picking.

107 Danny Phantom Facts

While the most die-hard of phans will know most of these facts, there are a few new ones that are particularly exciting. We get some new production info, such as that the first recording session was on November 21, 2002, and that it took about 10 months to produce an episode. As for in-universe facts, one of the most enticing is that Danielle Phantom, Danny’s clone, would have moved in with the Fentons had the series continued. Again, reboot material, anyone?

The Fairly Odd Phantom Short

As if those first two videos weren’t enough, phans also got the first new Danny Phantom animation in a decade, as a crossover no less. While its primary purpose is to be a promo for Hartman’s newest show, Bunsen Is a Beast, the short brings together all of his shows for two-and-a-half minutes of pure awesomeness. Hearing Danny, Sam, Tucker, and Jazz again made my heart pound with nostalgia, and Hartman fans finally got the crossover we’ve all been waiting for. (Plus, how epic does Team Phantom look in that widescreen format?)

Danny Phantom Cast Reunited

Two days after the short was uploaded, Nickelodeon also released a podcast featuring the voice actors for Team Phantom. They talk about making the short and memories of the show from ten years ago, and they even hint at wanting to do a convention panel together. While the podcast is also nostalgia-inducing, phans are probably already trying to organize that panel.

Now more than ever, the stars sure seem to be lining up for a continuation of Danny Phantom. With the new videos, we have new characters, places, and story lines waiting to be explored, and everyone involved appears to be on board with it. It’s up to the phans now to make that final push for Nickelodeon to make it happen. And then perhaps, we just may see Danny Phantom go ghost again.
