Each month we bring you the best and most interesting Kickstarter games, from charming indies to inevitable blockbuster hits. This month we feature the intense 2D mech platformer, Code:Hardcore

Our featured Kickstarter game of the month is Code: Hardcore, a high-quality mecha-themed 2D platformer developed by indie game studio RocketPunch. Code: Hardcore takes its inspiration from games such as Metal Slug, Call of Duty and Super Robot Wars.

The game features different styles of mechs, various elite weapons, unique items, stunning skins, smooth gaming control and high-quality animations. It also has cinematic levels and a story mode to make players feel more immersed in the game.

The 2D rotating-animation technique created and used by RocketPunch gives the game an illusion of 3D animation. Code: Hardcore can be played using classic joysticks with functionality similar to Contra or Metal Slug. Players can fly and dash at any time and put their skills to the test with the manual aiming feature.

The demo includes a level of the Story Mode, 4 unique mechs, and unlimited practice mode. The full release will have both single-player and multiplayer modes and feature 15 Mecha at launch.

The funding period for the game is far from over but backers have already raised over $102k, more than 150% of the initial goal. Backers wanting to try the game now need only pledge at the “Super Tester” level of $25 or higher. Funding for this game will end Oct. 24, 2016, so there is still plenty of time to help this game be the best it can be. RocketPunch expects to release the game on Steam in Q4 of 2017.

We welcome you to share in our enthusiasm for this featured game by joining our Code: Hardcore community at Fandom.

Kickstarter Honorable Mentions

Fox n Forests

Our next game in the Kickstarter lineup has also already surpassed its initial funding goal with more than $120k in funding. Bonus Level Entertainment’s Fox n Forests is a 2D 16-bit action platformer that combines adventure and puzzle elements with a unique twist — the character’s main weapon allows players to switch seasons on the fly.

Fox n Forests gained its inspiration from classics like Castlevania, Super Ghouls n Ghosts and the Zelda franchise. Players follow the adventures of Rick the Fox through pixel-perfect levels of screen-filling bosses and challenging skills tests with not 4 but 5 seasons to explore.

The catchy chiptunes soundtrack and retro charm will have players both young and old entertained. Fox n Forests will release late 2017 on Steam. The developers are currently considering other platforms as well.

The House of Da Vinci

The House of Da Vinci is a unique 3D hands-on puzzle adventure game. It features a detailed and historically accurate storyline. Player will enter and explore the world of Leonardo Da Vinci, one of the greatest inventors of the 16th Century.

Players will encounter mechanical puzzles, hidden secrets, brain twisters and baffling riddles all based on actual inventions and concepts. A unique virtual gauntlet gives the player the ability to travel through time at will to see the past and future. They must use the knowledge they gain to decipher their next move.

Blue Brain Games is developing The House of Da Vinci specifically for Android and PC. The game features single-touch control. While the funding period for the game is over, players can still get the bonus extra level offered to backers by pre-ordering the game. A beta for the game is expected to be available in October 2016.

So that’s our look at Kickstarter games for this month. Some of the best and most unique ideas come from Indie developers. But these teams can’t make their games without the support of players either through funding on platforms like Kickstarter or Fig, acceptance through venues like Steam Greenlight, or both.

Here’s a list new communities created based on Kickstarter-funded games from the last month. Help out the fans by becoming a contributor.
