Developer Bungie announced a major new expansion for Destiny 2 on June 5. The expansion, Forsaken, arrives September 4 and retails for $39.99. Here’s how Bungie describes it:
Following years of strife, what remains of the Reef has fallen to lawlessness. You and Cayde-6 are sent to personally investigate the recent unrest. Upon arrival, you soon discover the most-wanted criminals in the Prison of Elders have organized an escape. Beyond the Vanguard’s authority, you’ll pursue these fugitives deep into the Reef. Explore new regions, awaken new powers, earn powerful weapons, and uncover long-lost Awoken secrets. The hunt is on.
Forsaken’s biggest new contribution to the Destiny ecosystem is an entirely new game mode called Gambit, in which two teams work competitively against each other to take down huge foes, sending enemies and even teammates to the other side to wreak havoc. (Think Puzzle Fighter meets the Crucible.)
