Check Out the Crazy New ‘Persona 5’ Trailer

Atlus announced today that Persona 5, the latest game in their eccentric RPG series, will be releasing in Japan on Sept. 15. They did not reveal the release date for the rest of the world. If Persona 3 and Persona 4 are any indication, we should be seeing the game on U.S. shores between six months and a year after its Japanese release.

The Persona series is a spin-off of the Megami Tensei series, and began with the release of Megami Ibunroku Persona in 1996. The games tend to revolve around doing battle using “personas,” monsters that serve as manifestations of the characters personality based on interactions with various NPCs throughout the game. The game focuses on the human psyche, particularly the Jungian take on personality development.
