During an exciting Bethesda Showcase at E3 2016 this evening, Game Director Matt Firor announced The Elder Scrolls Online – One Tamriel. This future update will grant players the ability to explore and play anywhere in the game they choose to go once they have finished the tutorial. The goal is to make the game more social-friendly by making it easier for friends to play together and encouraging solo players to group up.  The player base will no longer be divided into one of three Alliances and will be free to travel wherever they like. This change does not affect the PVP areas, Trials, or Dungeons. Veteran Dungeons will still require a Veteran level group. The current “Silver” and “Gold” versions of zones will be replaced by Cadwell quest storylines that players will be able to complete in any order.

Current players may already be familiar with how this change will work if they have played any of the three DLCs, as it will work the same way as it does in those zones, except now the level adaptation will span across the entire game.  Lower players will have their base level change to be appropriate to the area they are questing in, but will be playing with the abilities and gear they entered the area with. Similarly, higher level players in lower area zones will be the level of the zone but with better gear, more abilities, and more Champion points. Gear rewards will drop appropriate to the actual level of the character.

Firor says we can expect the update as early as this fall and that more information will be announced over the course of the summer.
