Avengers: Infinity War is going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever. It’s a safe bet that some characters aren’t going to make it out alive when they come face to face with Thanos and his minions. But, if you were going put a few bucks on who will live and who will die, which are the safe bets and which ones might be a little bit risky?

We’ve crunched the numbers and done tons of thorough research and come up with the definitive list of who might be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe for good.

Ant-Man

Ant-Man and The Wasp

Scott Lang isn’t being featured prominently in the marketing for Avengers: Infinity War, and he’ll be headlining his own solo feature only a few months after Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters. As far as we know, the events in Ant-Man and the Wasp take place after Avengers: Infinity War. That makes Ant-Man’s fate pretty clear.

Odds of death: Save your money.

Black Panther

Black Panther is one of the highest grossing films of all time and a sequel is already in the works. ‘Nuff said.

Odds of death: Save your money.

Black Widow

Fans have been clamoring for a Black Widow film for years. Scarlett Johansson doesn’t seem like she’s ready to leave the role either. And it might not be so cool to kill off one of your few female characters.

Odds of death: Slim to none.

Bucky Barnes

captain america bucky barnes feature

Bucky just found a new home in Wakanda and is likely to become its adopted son. And some behind the scenes info helps us solve this question. Sebastian Stan is signed up for a nine-picture deal — which does not include cameos — and he hasn’t gotten close to completing that.

Odds of death: Save your money.

Captain America

Avengers: Infinity War Captain America Thanos

Though Chris Evans has said he’ll be returning for Avengers 4, it’s possible he’ll only be showing up in newly shot flashbacks. Evans has been in the role for a long time and seems like he’s getting ready to hang up the shield once and for all.

Odds of death: Average-to-possible. Worth a mid-level bet.

Doctor Strange

Doctor-Strange

Stephen Strange has only recently been introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, he’s our only inlet into the magical side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for now. No way we’re losing that at this juncture.

Odds of death: Save your money.

Falcon

Anthony Mackie as Falcon.

Sam Wilson has been a wonderful partner to Steve Rogers ever since Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And if Cap does bite the dust, it’s possible that Falcon will take up the mantle for a new generation. That puts his chances of survival pretty high.

Odds of death: Slim to none.

The Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy 2

This cast is the best ensemble in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and we know that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is already on the way. If any of the key heroes were going to die, it’d probably be in their own trilogy. However, Nebula‘s quest for revenge against Thanos could make her a sacrifice that galvanizes Gamora in a way we haven’t seen before. And seeing her cope with her sister’s death in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 sounds like a good narrative beat to explore.

Odds of Death: On Nebula, it’s pretty high. Everyone else is either safe or a very low chance of dying.

Hawkeye

With his lack of presence in marketing and Jeremy Renner’s long-running attachment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hawkeye is definitely on the chopping block. Though, he could escape a grisly fate and bring everything to a close in Avengers 4. He’s certainly a death that will hit for a lot of fans. It’s just a matter of which film is going to be his last.

Odds of Death: High but not enough to go all-in.

Hulk

Thor-Ragnarok-Hulk

Hulk has only begun to show his full potential in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fans have come to love him even more after his turn in Thor: Ragnarok. He’ll probably take the biggest beating he’s received yet but he’ll still come out on top when it’s all over.

Odds of death: Slim to none.

Iron Man

This is so expected that it feels like a no-brainer. Robert Downey, Jr. kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it seems fitting that this momentous film should be Tony Stark‘s exit. Not to mention that it’s just getting too expensive to keep hiring RDJ for each successive picture.

Odds of death: Bet the farm.

Loki

Loki has been a thorn in our heroes’ side for a very long time, but Avengers: Infinity War is looking like it could be his last hurrah. He’s seen giving Thanos the Tesseract but it’s likely that the Mad Titan will punish the Asgardian trickster for his failure in The Avengers. And losing Tom Hiddleston will cause a huge reaction from fans, and Marvel is definitely going big for this flick.

Odds of death: Very high.

Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch

Elizabeth Olsen hasn’t been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for too long. So, it’s likely that the filmmakers have bigger plans for Wanda Maximoff. In fact, her reality-warping powers could very well play a big part in trying to fix whatever horrible events happen because of Avengers: Infinity War. And sadly, it’s much more likely that Scarlet Witch is going to lose someone she loves instead of her own life.

Odds of death: Slim to none.

Spider-Man

iron spider armor feature

No way. We’ve already got another Spider-Man movie in the works and we just got Tom Holland in the mix as Peter Parker. He’s so safe that it hurts.

Odds of death: Save your money.

Thor

thor: ragnarok topic card feature hero

For a while, it was thought that Thor would be one of the casualties of Avengers: Infinity War. But, with the success of Thor: Ragnarok and a newly re-energized Chris Hemsworth, it’s likely that he’s going to stick around for at least one more outing. But, he could be one of the big surprise deaths if that’s how Marvel wants to play it.

Odds of death: Average-to-low.

Vision

avengers vision dies feature

This one hurts. It certainly looks like Vision is going to be an early casualty of the film. We know that Vision and Scarlet Witch will be meeting in secret since they are on opposing teams after the events of Captain America: Civil War. It’s sounding like Avengers: Infinity War is going to position their romance as something that audiences will be strongly attached to, and then will be devastated when it’s torn apart by the death of Vision.

Odds of death: Very high.
