The makeovers on America’s Next Top Model are always filled with drama, with plenty of tears flowing. While the transformations happened on Tuesday’s episode, VH1 just released before and after photos of the contestants, allowing fans to pour over the photos.

We rank all fourteen makeover (or as host Tyra Banks calls them, ty-overs). Some changes were subtle, and some were very dramatic. The makeovers were captured by photographer Massimo Capana.

Check out all the Cycle 24 model makeovers, ranked from worst to best.

14. Ivana

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: Plus-sized contestant Ivana entered with big personality and big hair. But she started to fade after feeling she lacked modeling experience. When the judges cut off her hair — her source of confidence — she completely unraveled, admitting she felt “short hair was ugly.” She went from vivacious to flat, and was eliminated.

13. Shanice

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: Poor Shanice. The statuesque model was looking forward to getting a makeover but patches of psoriasis on her scalp limited what could be done. Like Ivana, she took a major confidence hit, and ended up in the bottom two.

12. Christina

Before:

After:

He ranking explained: The producers seem to be handicapping Christina with unnatural green hair, which no other contestant in the history of America’s Next Top Model has ever had. While it may work for Kylie Jenner, it definitely doesn’t work for this 34-year-old hopeful. In the opening credits, Christina is seen with (slightly more manageable) purple hair, so perhaps she’ll undergo another ty-over.

11. Liz

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: Pink is another outrageous color, but it’s definitely less shocking than green, and fits Liz’s quirky personality. But unlike Cycle 18 winner Sophie (who also was given pink hair), Liz’s banged look is a bit disheveled and sloppy-looking.

10. Sandra

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: It seems the producers are obsessed with having a Kim Kardashian-lookalike this season, so they gave Sandra a long blunt bob just like the reality star. She’s yet to show any personality yet, so hopefully this hair will bring it out of her.

9. Rhiyan

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: Rhiyan is a pretty girl. The judges have also found her pretty boring. This is a look Tyra’s given other contestants (notably Tiffany in Cycle 3 and Ebony in Cycle 7), and each time they hide behind their long tresses instead of embrace them.

8. Erin

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: The judges hoped long wavy hair would help youthen the 42-year-old grandmother, who is the oldest contestant in the show’s history.

7. Kyla

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: Image architect and judge Law Roach said Kyla is the most modelesque in the group, and this straight brown hair gives her a much more sophisticated look.

6. Brendi

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: Brendi hated her buzzcut (she was afraid of looking too masculine), but she actually has the bone structure to carry short hair. She seemed very surprised when she got one of the week’s top photos. Unfortunately, contestants with short hair rarely win, the notable exception being Cycle 3’s Eva and Cycle 4’s Naima.

5. Khrystyana

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: Khrystyana got platinum Daenerys Targaryen hair. She’s largely flown under the radar — a good thing on America’s Next Top Model — because producers tend to give contestants that are eliminated early more camera time. Like Dany, it may take Khrystyana awhile to get to her destination, but she’ll make a big splash when she arrives.

4. Coura

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: Banks loved Coura’s look so much that she changed nothing about it, which has only happened a couple times in America’s Next Top Model history. Like Kyla, and Rhiyan, she has yet to show any personality whatsoever … and looks only take you so far in this competition.

3. Liberty

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: “You voted red, so you’re going red,” Banks told the Trump supporter. The new hair color actually lit a fire under the middle-of-the-road contestant, giving her a newfound confidence and the best performance of the week.

2. Rio

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: Rio was already the “cool chick” of the competition, and the edgy, blonde ‘do has made her next level fierce.

1. Jeana

Before:

After:

Her ranking explained: Jeana suffers from alopecia, an auto-immune disease that causes hair loss. She was hesitant to remove her wig, because she had been teased for her lack of hair all her life, getting called “cancer patient” and other names. After an emotional exchange with Roach, she agreed to remove it. Once her wig was lifted, so was the burden on her shoulders. She embraced her baldness and established herself as a frontrunner. The only downside — she was already the shortest contestant by far before the makeovers and will need to overcome that.
