Powers Boothe has passed away of natural causes in his LA home, according to his publicist. The actor was 68-years-old and is known for his roles in Agents of SHIELD and The Avengers, in which he played World Security Council man Gideon Malick. He also notably appeared in Sin City, TV series Deadwood and supplied the voice of Gorilla Grodd in Justice League Unlimited.

A character actor, Boothe’s roles were tremendously varied and he picked up an Emmy for his work in the TV movie Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones. He played the titular character, the cult leader responsible for the Jonestown Massacre.
