A Quiet Place (read FANDOM’s review) is taking the box office by storm. It’s had the second largest opening of the year, only being topped by the massive hit that is Black Panther. The response to the film has been awesome and that has fans talking about the potential of future films. But, what would a sequel to A Quiet Place look like?

The Writers Have Ideas

It’s a thought that clearly isn’t lost on the writers of the film, Bryan Woods and Scott Beck. They have been asked about potential sequel ideas and they seem game:

“There are so many discarded set pieces, too, just hiding out on Word documents on our computer. So, yeah, there are certainly so many stories you could tell. It’s just really, at the end of the day, who are the characters in this and what does this situation mean to that dynamic?”

So it sounds like they have some conceptual stuff lying around that they could draw upon for a second film. Considering the great world-building that takes place in the film, they almost certainly have thought about the larger implications of these sound-sensitive monsters and their attack on humanity.

But, what about specific story ideas? Here are a few jumping off points we think could be interesting.

The Big City

A Quiet Place is a rural film and it uses its woodland and farmland setting extremely well. It also makes sense that isolated patches of people would be better at surviving than large population centers. However, we can’t help wondering what it must have been like for bigger cities in this world.

So, set a movie in a major city but before the events of the first film. A Quiet Place starts during the 89th day of the monsters’ incursion. We could see what happens a little bit earlier and see a bigger attack from the monsters. It’d be cool to see just how vicious and large the number of creatures is at the start of the story.

Following the Characters

Still, a big reason why people love A Quiet Place is because of the characters. A sequel without them might not be so well-received. So, if that’s the case, we could follow the remaining characters after the events of the first film. Since they’ve found a weakness that can defeat the monsters, what do they decide to do with that information?

We did see that there are other small patches of people trying to survive around the farm in A Quiet Place. Perhaps the lead family takes their newfound knowledge to others and forms a bigger community? Or do they even take this information to some greater authority like an army?

Even if we don’t get a sequel, it’s clear that A Quiet Place has captured the imaginations of audiences. That’s awesome. It’s a well-constructed horror film that is getting people to think. We can always use more of those.
