Five Things You Need to Know Before ‘Agent Carter’ Returns

Marvel’s Agent Carter had an action-packed first season. We met the human version of Jarvis, saw Peggy Carter kick some major butt, and learned a little bit about Hydra. Season 2 premieres on January 19th, and we’ve come up with this list of five things you should absolutely recall about that first season before watching.

Team Jarvis/Carter

Agent Carter and Edwin Jarvis

In Season 1, we were given an inside look at Peggy’s life after the war. Still an Agent, she was regarded as little more than a secretary at the SSR. When her friend Howard Stark finds himself in a bit of trouble, Peggy is asked to jump back into the game of espionage. An offer she eagerly accepted with the help of Edwin Jarvis, Stark’s butler. The two Brits quickly became close friends — thanks to all the danger they had to go through together; and they formed a dream team that we’d love backing us up in real life.

Jack Thompson, the guy we love to hate

Although Peggy and Jarvis did all the grunt work, Jack Thompson, one of Peggy’s chauvinistic co-workers, ended up blindsiding her by taking credit for tracking down, disabling, and retrieving all of Howard Stark’s stolen inventions. Peggy couldn’t reveal that she had secretly been helping Stark, so she had to stand aside and watch as Thompson received praise for their hard work. Will he get what’s coming to him this season? Time will tell.

Agent Carter celebrates feminism

Being the BAMF that she is, Peggy didn’t let Thompson’s slight faze her, and one of our favorite lines from her last season was: “I know my value; anyone else’s opinion doesn’t really matter.” Agent Carter‘s first season had a lot of moments celebrating girl power despite “the man” trying to get Peggy down, so we’re excited to see what Season 2 brings! Peggy also proved to us that worrying about what other people think about her is pointless since, you know, she had more important things that need her attention like…

The Black Widow

Dottie Underwood

Dottie Underwood, aka the first Black Widow, was last seen after Peggy kicked her butt out a window. Although her body has yet to be recovered, we doubt that we’ve seen the last of the Leviathan Black Widow Assassin since she still has unfinished business with Carter and the SSR.

Peggy Finally Says Goodbye to Steve

The most heart-wrenching moment of the entire season was when Peggy finally realized that it was time for her to say goodbye to Steve (Captain America). She does this by pouring his blood sample into the East River, which leaves the possibility for a new love interest in the next season. Unfortunately, we learned early on that Jarvis is a married man, so you can get that hope out of your heads now before Season 2 premieres!

Zola’s Possible Hydra Clue

However, the overall shocker of the season was Armin Zola‘s surprise cameo. His cryptic message to Doctor Faustus, “You’re in prison, yes. But it is an American prison. And America…is the land of opportunity,” left many wondering if the audience would finally learn how Hydra infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. once and for all.
What role do you think Zola will play in the upcoming season? Did Dottie survive that unfortunate fall from a window? Can we expect more cameos from the=Howling Commandos? Like you at home, we have to stay tuned in to find out.
