Netflix released Season 6 of Voltron: Legendary Defender last Friday, and we’re still in awe of it. We got much-needed answers to some burning questions and received a satisfying ending to the current arc. But Team Voltron’s space adventures aren’t over now that they’re heading home to Earth. In fact, we’ve got a new batch of questions we need answered in Season 7 of Voltron: Legendary Defender.

Sendak’s Time to Shine

Sendak confronting Lotor supporters

We don’t see much of Sendak in Season 6. He only appears in the first episode, “Omega Shield,” in which he attacks a labor planet and forces Voltron into action to save it. We also learn that he’s been gathering Galra deserters who oppose Lotor to form the “Fire of Purification” faction.

Despite this single appearance, he’s still a major threat to the team. Will he play a more prominent part next season? It’s likely. He’s threatened to “visit” Earth before, so when Team Voltron returns to Earth, don’t be surprised if Sendak follows soon after. He’ll probably be the one who brings the Galra war to the planet.

All Hail Who Now?

Lotor addresses his empire

Lotor’s defeat this season affects not only the Paladins but his empire as well. If Allura and the team truly killed him, then that leaves a power void within the Galra Empire. The Galra are already in the midst of a civil war, so this development is bound to cause more chaos.

Will they split into even more factions, or will a new emperor step forward? If so, who? Lotor didn’t have any bloodline successors. Sendak’s the most likely candidate, as he previously challenged Lotor for the throne. But whoever it may be, Team Voltron will have their hands full dealing with yet another Galra emperor.

What’s Next for Haggar?

Haggar reveals herself as Honerva to Lotor

Haggar’s storyline is literally left up in the air this season when Acxa tries to shoot her only for her to vanish into thin air. Before that, Haggar takes over Shiro’s mind and makes him bring Lotor to her in the episode “The Black Paladins.” When Lotor arrives, Haggar tries to reunite with him as his mother, but he refuses to accept her as such. When she sends him away, Acxa shoots her.

So what will Haggar do when we see her again? Will she find out about Lotor’s defeat in the quintessence field? If so, will she try to rescue him with her alchemic magic or leave him? Or will she go in a different direction entirely and try to use another Galra commander as her puppet to take over the empire? She seems to have a fresh start now, so anything is possible.

Save the Alteans

Alteans arriving at their colony

One thing the Paladins will have to focus on in the coming season is Lotor’s secret colony of Alteans. The team learned from one of the Alteans, Romelle, that Lotor’s been harvesting their quintessence for centuries.

But with Lotor out of the way now, what will become of them? Will the team rescue them from their isolation beyond the quantum abyss? Or will they visit and help the Alteans but continue to keep them hidden to protect them from the raging war? Whatever the answer, we hope the Alteans remain unharmed.

Six Paladins for Five Lions

Keith at the helm of Voltron again

Team Voltron will have its own problem to solve next season. Keith took over as the Black Paladin again in Season 6 when clone Shiro went haywire. But now that Allura has saved the real Shiro, the will be faced with a familiar problem: having two Black Paladins.

Will there be another lion-paladin switch in Season 7? Keith will likely pilot the Black Lion again while Shiro rests, but after that, there’s bound to be some discussion about it. Keith still has his obligation to the Blade of Marmora, but he’s matured a lot and is much more adept at leading the team now. If they both stay on as Paladins, then someone else, likely Lance or Allura, will have to step down. Perhaps Lance’s concerns in Season 3 about there being one paladin too many weren’t as far off as he thought.

For now, it’s best to simply enjoy having everyone back together as they head back to Earth. When Season 7 comes around, we’ll be ready to get the answers to all these questions and more.
