5 Must-See Anime to Watch This December

It’s the last month of the year before we will bid farewell to 2017. It has been an amazing year for anime with streaming giant, Netflix, making an enormous investment in anime, and many series and movies making a significant impact in the anime industry. While 2018 holds even more anime that we are excited about, there are still a few anime shows to watch this year. So, here are five anime shows and specials you should watch, before ringing in the New Year.

Drifters Specials

  • Premiere date: December 23, 2017
  • Studio: Hoods Drifters Studio
  • Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Historical

Featured in our best anime of 2016, Drifters will release two new episode this December. At the end of the final episode, the show announced that the series would get a sequel. Unfortunately, it was later revealed that this sequel would only be episodes 13 and 14.

Nevertheless, fans will meet the new character, Banzelmasin Shylock VIII, which will hopefully make up for not having a full second season.

Drifters follows several significant figures in history as they are transported to an alternate universe to fight the Offscourings, also called the “Ends. ”

Recovery of an MMO Junkie Special

  • Premiere date: December 8, 2017
  • Studio: Signal.MD
  • Genre: Game, Comedy, Romance

Get ready to log in to virtual reality. After premiering this last fall, Signal.MD will release a special unaired episode of the romantic comedy, Recovery of an MMO Junkie this December.

While not much information has yet been released about the special, fans can’t wait for another dose of virtual love. The anime’s beautiful animation and adorable characters have made it one of the best anime of 2017.

Lostorage Conflated WIXOSS: Missing Link

  • Premiere date: December 14, 2017
  • Studio: J.C.Staff
  • Genre: Game, Psychological

Toy and game maker Takara Tomy launched the WIXOSS card game back in 2014. And since its launch, several TV adaptations have been released, including the upcoming Lostorage conflated WIXOSS, premiering in 2018.

But, before the new series hits, an OVA adaptation of the card game will debut this December, titled Lostorage conflated WIXOSS -missing link –. Unfortunately, no official synopsis has yet been released. But hey, little girls kicking ass with card games is sure to be a hit.

Nekopara

  • Premiere date: December 2017
  • Studio: Felix Film
  • Genre: Comedy, Romance

Within 1 hour of launching their Kickstarter campaign, the Nekopara team met its initial goal of US$100,000. And now fans will be able to watch the series instead of playing it this upcoming holiday season.

The OVA will adapt the Nekopara Vol. 1 storyline while adding several new elements to the animation. The anime follows, Kashou Minaduki, as he opens his patisserie shop “La Soleil.” But upon moving in, he finds two catgirls who beg him to stay with him. Together they try their best to run the patisserie shop.

Detective Opera Milky Holmes: Arsene’s Magnificent Desire

Who loves a mystery? The people at Bushiroad sure do, as they will once again re-imagine fiction’s most celebrated detectives as moe anime girls in their new TV show, Detective Opera Milky Holmes: Arsene’s Magnificent Desire.

Besides revealing the title of the new theme song, “Reflection,” further details about the new TV anime have not yet been announced. But, whatever the story may be, Hercule, Cordelia, Sherlock, and Nero are on the case.
