Winter is almost over and that means that there’s a new season of brand new anime shows and movies. With April offering a tremendous number of titles you can start watching, here are five anime to watch this month.

Captain Tsubasa (2018)

Captain Tsubasa aims to score this April with a whole new generation. Last December, TV Tokyo announced that a fourth adaptation of the soccer-themed manga, Captain Tsubasa, will premiere this spring 2018.

The anime follows an 11-year-old soccer prodigy, Tsubasa Ozora, who dreams of representing Japan in the FIFA World Cup. At his elementary school, he’s the best player on the team. But to pursue his dream, Tsubasa moves to Nankatsu city, which is well-known for its excellent elementary school soccer teams.

Although at his previous school Tsubasa was the best, he has to use all his skills and talents to stand out from this new crowd of future soccer players.

Hozuki’s Coolheadedness 2 Second Cour

The bureaucrats of Japanese hell will return from their break on April 8th, and it will be one hell of a comedy show. The series, which started broadcasting in 2014, tells an alternative version of what most people might think of hell.

In Hozuki’s Coolheadedness, the underworld is run as a bureaucracy. Business is going well thanks to the Hoozuki, chief deputy to Lord Enma, the King of Hell.

With familiar faces from famous Japanese legends and East Asian mythology assisting Hoozuki, will the admin from hell ever go on vacation or is he stuck managing his subordinates?

Space Battleship Tiramisu

In the distant future, humanity has colonized the vast reaches of space. Yet despite these advancements, humankind still wages war with each other.

As a result, Earth constructs a new space battleship called Tiramisu. Steering the spaceship is the fearless Subaru Ichinose, but he’s the furthest thing from a leader. He spends his days locked in the cockpit of his personal ship Durandal because he can’t stand the older pilots.

Space Battleship Tiramisu follows Subaru and his friends in their crazy adventures traveling through the cosmos.

Dances with the Dragons

Based on a series of fantasy light novels of the same name, Dances with the Dragons takes place in an alternate world where warriors combine science and technology to combat monsters.

In the city of Eridana, people have special abilities called spell formulas that they can activate through unique weapons that cause a spell-like effect. Spell formulists use these weapons to fight with “Beasts of Abhorrent Form,” natural creatures that pose a threat to humans, like dragons, aions, or enormes.

The story follows Gaius Sorel and Gigina Ashley-Bufh, a pair of mercenaries who take odd jobs in the chaotic city of Eridana.

Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku

Romantic relationships are sometimes a bit too much to handle, especially when you involve work and favorite pastimes. Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku tells the tale of two otakus who fall in love.

Narumi Momose, an office worker who hides her fujoshi lifestyle and Nifuji Hirotaka, a company man who is secretly obsessed with video games, haven’t seen each other since middle school. But when they end up working at the same place and share a night out together, the pair start dating. Can the love of animation be greater than the love that two share? Or will Narumi and Hirotaka subdue their pop culture geekiness for the sake of each other and their careers? We will find out this April.
