5 Most Anticipated Upcoming Shooters of 2017

With 2016 now behind us, 2017 promises to be another great year for gaming, shooters in particular. So, to prepare for a stellar year for first person-, third person-, and all other types of shooting games, we’ve gone ahead and gathered five first-person shooters that we’re most excited about coming out this year. Let’s take a closer look at the most interesting, both big and small.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Release Date: March 7
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows

Ghost Recon: Wildlands is the 13th Ghost Recon game and the first major release since 2012's Future Soldier. The game is set in a lawless and violent Bolivian city where a powerful drug cartel has taken control. Players will join The Ghost special ops team to help put an end to the cartel's operations. Hopefully, this continues the series' tradition of excellent co-op.

Get Even

Despite its initial release date being set for 2015, not much is known about this game. The Farm 51 have released little in the way of official gameplay footage, but what we do know is that Get Even is expected to feature a unique mix of single-player and multiplayer components. The game will have players take on the role of Black, an investigator who undertakes various government and high profile jobs.

Release Date: May
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows

Battalion 1944 sees a return of first-person shooter games set in one of the most iconic wars, World War II. This game focuses quite heavily on realistic gameplay experiences and utilizes an advanced multiplayer system, set in real-world locations including Bastogne and Carentan. The game's developers, Bulkhead Interactive, developed Batallion 1944 using the Unreal Engine 4 which seemingly will create some very realistic backgrounds and environments.

Insurgency: Sandstorm

Insurgency: Sandstorm is going to be a full-on remake of the original Insurgency game. The original release was available exclusively for PC in 2014, but developers New World Interactive are designing Sandstorm for console and multi-OS release. The intense, squad-based action will also include enhanced visuals and gameplay mechanics, a new story mode, and a new eSports framework.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3

CI Games' Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is an ambitious stealth-action first-person military shooter. Set within an "unforgiving" open world environment, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 gives players the ability to choose their own way of completing missions. The game will feature a dynamic day/night cycle as well as weather conditions that will have a great impact on gameplay and player decisions.
